(or, loosely translated, “Laugh Light”)
Form Gaseous,
Flows through being
Awe caught
In woven spell eyes.
Heart-soul beats,
Rhythms Staccato.
Blood-boil Burns,
From kisses whispered.
Stopping this time,
Moments paused.
I be we, as one.
Circles completed,
We laugh light.
— Orneo
The above is a translation by Bruce Threatt of the famed Venusian poet Orneos’ poem “Laugh Light”. The poem is included in Mr. Threatt’s forthcoming book of Venusian and Martian poetry, tentatively titled “Venusians Are From Venus and Martians Are From Mars”.
